Gaula – River of Silver and Gold – Review

On Saturday April 21st, 2012 the new fly fishing movie by Daniel Göz had its worldwide debut at the 7. Erlebniswelt Fliegenfischen in Fürstenfeldbruck, Germany. Unfortunately I could not attend the premiere and enjoy the perfect picturesque scenes Daniel shot. So I had to (who believes that? I would have bought it anyway) buy a copy of Gaula – River of Silver and Gold. And not just a simple DVD. No it is actually my first fly fishing movie on a BluRay Disc. You see where we are going to? Heart of the Driftless – Trailer

Guys please have a look at this gorgeous trailer. There is a DVD release announced for March 2012 for “Heart of the Driftless”. The film was shot in the border region of Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. I hope to see more it and if the movie holds what the trailer shows, I might consider a vacation over the great pond to fish the Driftless Area and see some friends.

Fly Fishing Wallpaper Clyde River Brown Trout

This nice little Brown Trout was caught by my fly fishing buddy Richard on the River Clyde in Scotland and is this month’s FishSkin picture. Originally I intended to post a Grayling FishSkin, but we could not manage to catch one on this very windy day!

Due to the high winds, I was a little demotivated, while we were fly fishing the River Clyde. So I took some photographs and shot some scenes with my 5D Mark II. After arriving at home I was fooling around with the brand new Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Beta and created this ColorKey picture of my Sage TCR and my Waterworks ULA with the bright orange Scientific Anglers Expert Distance Competition line (not the best choice for such a windy day…). I hope you enjoy these pictures. I uploaded them high res, so you may be able to download and save the picture of the brwon trout as fly fishing wallpaper. Not just fly fishing…

First of all I want to wish all my friends and followers a very happy new year with lots of big and challenging fish.

But fly fishing is not everything in life. My second big love is photography. So I included two late shots of mine.

This picture was taken on walk along Portobello Beach on the morning of New Year’s Day.

This scene shows an elderly woman with perhaps her daughter walking along a street in Glasgow’s Merchant City after a rain shower.
